Survivors of Parental Hoarding & Mental Illness

We lived it. We suffered. We want more. This is our space to meet and share common experiences focused solely on what it means to be the child of a hoarding parent. We can only deal with ourselves, and, honestly, much of the time, that feels like a lot.

What to Expect

  • We keep it small.

    Recognizing that talking about a parent's hoarding is difficult, our group stays small. This SPECIAL meeting of SOPHMI will accommodate up to 20 participants.

  • Meeting Virtually

    I'd love to have you all over for coffee...but geography can be challenging! We meet online (no download required) on your favorite browser.

  • Real Connection

    What happens here, stays here...kinda like Vegas but without the shows, gambling, and buffets! We hope you'll be ready to share even if it's just a meek, "Yeah, me too...."

It feels like a betrayal to sign up, right? You've been carrying around this thing, and it kinda feels like it might destroy you someday. Many of us have struggled hard to break the shame of the family's hoarding secret.

So what happens here?

  • Loosely structured support conversations led by a hoarding specialist who is also the adult child of a parent who hoards [PWH].

  • Opportunities to name our emotions, identify losses and long-term impacts to US.

  • Validation of challenging experiences that others, even those friends who are amazing, just don't get.

  • Information about hoarding that validates your experience yet isn't focused on you being an active support to your PWH.

  • How do I reserve a seat for the group session?

    To reserve your seat for the group session, click on the "Secure Your Spot Now" button and follow the prompts to complete your registration. Seats are limited, so be sure to secure yours early.

  • What is this "Name Your Own Price" thing?

    Limited seats means that we require participants to put some skin in the game (plus, it helps offset costs to keep this platform available for our use). The minimum a participant must invest is $7, with a recommendation of $12, but hey...if you want to help offset others by chipping in more, we won't stop you! This requirement also means you're less likely to sign up and FUGEDDABOUTIT, leaving folks who wanted to sign up and attend out. We also strive to ensure that this support is affordable.

  • Who can attend?

    We are limiting this special event to 20 participants. We ask that only individuals who have (had) a PWH participate. Yes, we realize some of us have our own hoarding challenges, and that's fine, but please understand that we will not be discussing how to deal with our clutter issues during the session. This space has been an international space, so please feel free to join us from Canada, Europe, well...anywhere really...we've set our "early" meeting time (8am Seattle/LA time) to accommodate our siblings in other parts of the world. You are welcome.
