Team drama is inevitable, but don't ignore it.

Team drama is normal. No matter how hard we try to create harmonious and connected workplaces, we’re all human, we all have emotions and stuff going on. So even with your very best leadership efforts, you’re going to have drama in your team from time to time.

Many leaders see the drama arise and then freeze, unsure what to do or bury their heads in the sand hoping that it’ll go away by itself. Either way, when we ignore team drama rather than leaning into courage to resolve it, we lose connection and trust.

How to reduce and resolve drama.

In this guide you’ll find 10 common causes of workplace drama and three strategies you can use to resolve it. Some of them are about relationships between the team, some of them are about you and your impact on the team, some are about external factors.

Remember, by sweating - and tackling - the small stuff on workplace drama when you see it arise, you’re not only going to save yourself tonnes of energy and time by stopping things from escalating but more than that, once you’ve set expectations that your team is a drama-free zone (as much as possible), people are going to feel way more comfortable to be themselves and deliver awesome things together.
