This support is for any healthcare student who wants to feel more confident before their OSCE and aims to achieve higher marks in this exam.

A lot of students feel anxious before an OSCE. However this is completely normal. Fortunately with the right support from someone who understands the exam and has experience assessing OSCE performance, it becomes much easier to manage. The aim is to take away as much stress as possible and help you feel prepared on the day.

During the session, we work together to create a plan you can use in different OSCE stations. We also build a transcript of what you can say. This helps you organise your ideas and stops you from feeling stuck if you get a station you did not expect. The structure is flexible. Once you understand it, you can adapt it to whatever scenario you are given, whether it involves assessment, communication or clinical decision making.

The sessions are also very interactive. You will have time to speak, practise and ask questions. This helps you remember the steps and builds your confidence. We also talk through the types of questions that can be asked at the end of a station, and how to answer them clearly. Therefore in the end you will leave with a plan you can revise, and a better understanding of how to approach your OSCE.
