KS1-Swimming 6 week scheme of work and 6 lesson plans KS1 and bottom set KS2
Our 6-week swimming scheme of work is designed to teach water safety, and swimming skills to students in Key Stage 1 (ages 7-11) and bottom sets 11-14. The program is structured to provide a progressive and comprehensive approach to learning, focusing on developing fundamental skills and building confidence in the water.
Each week, students will participate in various activities designed to engage and challenge them. These activities include reviewing water safety rules, practising different floating and kicking techniques, and developing arm stroke and diving skills. Differentiation techniques are also incorporated to cater to the different needs and abilities of the students.
Our lesson plans are carefully crafted to ensure that students receive explicit instruction and ample opportunities for practice. Each plan includes a clear objective, materials list, warm-up activity, direct instruction, guided practice, independent practice, assessment, differentiation, and closure. The plans also incorporate critical questions that students should be able to answer by the end of each lesson.
By the end of the program, students will have a solid foundation in water safety and swimming skills and be well-prepared to continue their aquatic journey.
