30 Days of Poetry Writing Exercises: Observations and Interpretations

Are you feeling stuck creatively?...

With all of this (waves arms around) happening right now, it can feel hard to write. It can feel hard to be creative. It can feel hard to escape from the news cycle to do anything else but rage at the world.

Creativity is a muscle. Like physical muscles. Like empathy muscles. The more you use it, the more it will be at the ready when you need it.

If you're a poet, if you want to write but don't know how to start, or if you're just looking for new ways to get your brain moving, these writing exercises are techniques I use to tap back into the creative parts of my mind.

These are NOT your college Creative Writing 101 prompts. I will NOT ask you to read a memoir excerpt and tell you to just write a poem about "a favorite childhood experience." I will NOT ask you to write in the style of a famous dead poet. Etc.

MY favorite writing exercises absolve me of responsibility. (I can't help that it came out weird! It's what the prompt made me do!) And the techniques I use myself to jog creativity and pull some weirdness out of the ether are what we'll be doing for 30 days.

Join me for this all-levels, "get your brain thinking weird," month of writing exercises. These are techniques you can use and reuse to spark new thinking--in your poetry, in your other creative practices, and anywhere you need a fresh perspective.

Join now to begin reconnecting with your creative practice!
