YOUR RESULTS ARE IN!
If you answered mostly B's, you're probably not in perimenopause yet.
BUT, if you answered mostly A's, this tells me you’re likely in perimenopause!
First, what’s perimenopause all about?
Great q! Perimenopause is the 10 or so years before you enter menopause. I like to think of it as the time your body takes to prepare for menopause – which is identified as 12 consecutive months without a cycle.
What happens during perimenopause?
Your hormone levels start to fluctuate, particularly estrogen and progesterone. As menopause nears, the symptoms tend to intensify making it harder to cope.
Symptoms you may experience:
-
Hot flashes/night sweats
-
Irritability/mood swings
-
Difficulty focusing and concentrating
-
Irregular periods
-
Bloating and GI issues
-
Weight gain (especially in the midsection)
-
Low libido
What if my doctor said I was fine?
Maybe you’ve been to your doctor already. When your lab results came back with flying colors, your symptoms were dismissed as a normal part of aging that could be eased with hormonal birth control, antidepressants, and/or sleep medication.
Unfortunately, many women have had similar experiences.
This isn’t to blame doctors. There’s just an overall lack of education in western medicine surrounding perimenopause, which requires a much deeper look into a woman’s hormonal health. Generic blood work does not cover these in-depth hormone panels, which is why it’s extremely confusing to receive A+ lab results while feeling like a D+ at best.
So what needs to happen to start feeling better ASAP?
I see you scrolling through TikTok for advice (or at least some relief!) only to find more disappointment. Trust me, there’s a better way…
Seek out professional guidance from a perimenopausal expert (hi!) to learn the right way to relieve your symptoms.
