A State to Create: The Mini Series | Melting the Freeze

So many of us are living in a low-grade freeeeze and don't even realise it.

It looks like procrastination, inability to be consistent.
It looks like scrolling endlessly.
It looks like 'I just can't seem to get myself moving'.
It looks like spending hours thinking about doing something without ever starting.

This is because your body - your system - has learnt that freezing is safer than failing, falling behind, being judged, or burning out completely.

The truth is, the society we live in rewards productivity and punishment. It doesn't teach us how to listen to our own rhythms. It doesn't make space for the natural ebb and flow of a regulated, alive nervous system.
So many of us are walking around frozen - half alive - because that's what we've been learnt is 'functional'.

If we want to create - not just art, but life, movement, possibility - we have to learn how to thaw.

Gently. Patiently. Without force (much like picking away at an ice berg with a pick-axe, or leaving an ice cube on the side to melt!)

That's what this class is about.

What we’ll explore:

  • What the freeze response actually is, how it shows up, and why it's not necessarily 'bad'

  • The difference between acute freeze and functional freeze - and why most of us are stood still in the second

  • Why traditional 'push through it' advice makes freeze worse

  • How to work with your system instead of against it to slowly, safely thaw the response

  • Somatic practices to reconnect to your natural flow, without overwhelming your body

This space is for you if:

  • You constantly feel 'stuck', frozen, overwhelmed, or shut down

  • You find it hard to start things you actually want to do

  • You bounce between high productivity and total exhaustion

  • You know you're capable of more, but something invisible keeps holding you back

  • You're ready to move - but not through force, through care

What to expect:

  • A grounded, slow-paced space - no pressure to perform or share

  • Nervous system education you can actually understand and use in your day to day

  • Body-based tools to begin thawing safely, without pushing yourself into panic

  • Permission to go at your own pace

You don't need to be ready to run or 'dive' into anything here, you just need to be willing to feel the first tiny signs of thaw.

That’s where movement begins!
