Name a fair price
Introducing the tool that inspired this journey: The Black Unicorn Journal of Passions—created for adults and youth alike. The first in my healing journal series, this guide centers passion, self-definition, and the courage to know oneself.
The Black Unicorn name is inspired by the late poet and scholar Audre Lorde, whose poetry collection The Black Unicorn has deeply influenced my work and continues to shape the collective imagination.

In 2024, The BU Journal grew wings and became a cohort experience I will carry with me always. The journey continues. I’m ready to do it again—with you—joined by my co-facilitator and special guests.
Meet Your Facilitators

Samantha Thornhill
I walk the world as a poet, author, intuitive oracle, and community facilitator. Fifteen books deep, journaling has been my lifeline since the age of thirteen. As an oracle, I guide aspirants along their healing paths using a rich medicine bag of modalities. As your journaling coach, I’m honored to bring the fullness of my lived experience and accrued skills into this cohort container.

DJ Blaklight
This journey is supported by my cosmic cousin, Blaklight—musician, intuitive channeler, and space-holder. His soulful soundscapes and breath practices help ground the container, inviting presence, openness, enjoyment and depth in our collective journaling experience.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Black Unicorn Innerversity?
Black Unicorn Innerversity is a guided group journaling and healing experience designed to support self-inquiry, emotional release, and personal transformation through the healing arts. Each cohort blends reflective journaling, breathwork, sound, and community dialogue within a thoughtfully held container.
Who is this cohort for?
This experience is for adults who feel called to deepen their relationship with themselves through writing and reflection. It is especially supportive for creatives, seekers, healers, and anyone navigating transition, burnout, or a desire for greater authenticity. No prior journaling experience is required.
What can I expect in each session?
Each session includes grounding practices, guided journaling prompts, optional sharing, and live facilitation by Samantha Thornhill, supported by soundscapes and breath practices from co-facilitator Blaklight. Sessions are designed to be gentle, spacious, and emotionally attuned.
Do I have to share in the group?
No. Sharing is always optional. You are welcome to witness, write, and participate at your own pace. Listening and presence are honored forms of participation.
Is this therapy?
No. This is a coaching and healing arts experience, not psychotherapy or a replacement for mental health treatment. While journaling can be deeply therapeutic, this cohort is designed for personal growth and self-exploration rather than clinical care.
How many people are in each cohort?
Cohort size is intentionally limited to maintain intimacy, safety, and meaningful connection.
What materials do I need?
You’ll need a journal (the Black Unicorn Journal of Passions is encouraged but not required), a pen, and a quiet space where you can be present with yourself. Headphones are recommended for the sound and breath portions.
What if I miss a session?
Live attendance is encouraged to support the integrity of the group container. If recordings are offered, details will be shared in advance. Please plan to attend live whenever possible.
How does the pay-what-you-can model work?
For our founding cohort, we offer an equitable pay-what-you-can model to honor accessibility and collective care. You’re invited to choose a contribution that reflects your current capacity while honoring the energy and intention of the offering.
Is this experience confidential?
Yes. Participants are asked to honor confidentiality and refrain from sharing personal stories outside the group. This helps create a safe and trusting container for all.
How do I know if this is right for me?
If you feel drawn to journaling as a tool for healing, reflection, and self-definition—and you’re open to being in community while doing this work—this experience is likely a good fit.
