[Coaching vs Mentoring vs Consulting - what is the difference?]
Coach: Someone who asks intelligent questions to encourage the coachee to develop their own solutions wherever possible - because you are the expert of you. Gently enabling them to stretch their boundaries and improve in the agreed area of work.

Mentor: Someone has been in a similar situation to you, who can advise on what course of action they took and how it worked out.  You learn from their experience.

Consultant: Someone with formal qualifications and direct experience in a specific area The consultant’s role is as an advisor and problem solver. Source
