Why 300 Reps?
Over the last two decades, we've test-driven numerous popular weight training plans. While they delivered gains with a sprinkle of diet discipline and elbow grease, we often hit a roadblock and dropped out before the finish line. What went wrong?
Workload Overload
First off, the sheer workload was a killer. Workouts stretched from 1 hour and 15 minutes to a whopping 1 hour and 45 minutes, even with maximum effort. Life's a whirlwind, and most of us are not pro athletes or A-listers getting paid to workout. Workouts should be completable or they become demotivating. The gym should fit into your life, not be all consuming.
Returns, Where Art Thou?
During these marathon workouts, I noticed my lifts and energy dwindling towards the end. It was frustrating to hit a brick wall due to total muscle fatigue. After dissecting the reps and sets, I found some plans called for a mind-boggling 400, 450, or even over 500+ reps in one session! Training to muscle failure has merit, but this seemed like overkill.
Variety Overload
Mixing up exercises is cool, but some plans go overboard without a sturdy strength-building anchor for each muscle group. We're all for variety, but you need a solid foundation to track those strength gains over time.
